A tracking digitizer is a device that converts points, lines, surfaces and other elements on maps, drawings and other graphics into digital coordinate data that can be processed by computers through manual operation (such as hand-held tracking) or automatic tracking. It is a commonly used data input tool in the fields of geographic information systems (GIS) and computer-aided design (CAD). The working principle of a tracking digitizer is usually based on the principle of electromagnetic induction. It contains an electromagnetic induction board with a fine circuit grid arranged on the board. When the operator uses a cursor (or marker, tracker) to move on the induction board, the coil in the cursor emits a sinusoidal AC signal, which produces electromagnetic coupling with the grid lines on the induction board. By detecting the induction signal of the grid lines near the bottom of the cursor, the exact position of the cursor on the induction board, that is, the X and Y coordinate values, can be determined. These coordinate values are then transmitted to the computer for further processing and analysis.
